WE!ARE Africa Unmuted

THE TIME TO UNMUTE AND SPEAK UP AGAINST CLIMATE INJUSTICE IS NOW.

Youths from across the African continent are unmuting, joining the already gathered voices, and speaking for the climate. It’s time to reimagine Africa.

JOIN THE UNMUTED AFRICAN VOICES.

The movement WE!ARE selected creative hubs across the African continent to curate a series of Moments of Change. These moments were designed by artists, inspired by their surroundings, and created together with the community around them. The Moments of Change tell stories about climate change through thought, words, art, music, fashion, dance, and song.

These Moments of Change were used to raise awareness of the climate justice issues we face and educate young people and communities on how to protect themselves, how to unmute themselves, and how to join us and speak out against climate injustice.

THREE STEPS TO
UNMUTE YOURSELF

EDUCATE YOURSELF ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND CLIMATE INJUSTICE.

Climate change is a long-term change in temperatures and weather patterns. These changes have different effects in different areas. Some areas, such as Africa, are affected more than others; this is called climate injustice. It refers to the fact that the effects of climate change are felt differently in different locations and by different groups.

UNDERSTAND WHAT CLIMATE INJUSTICE MEANS FOR AFRICA.

Injustice is at the heart of Africa’s experience of the climate crisis. Historically, the continent has contributed less than 3 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions, and yet it is one of the regions most affected by climate change. Click here to learn more.
